Wow, what a time to be alive…or emo? Nostalgic? Anyways you get the gist, in other news…MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE IS BACK!!!! And we are all here for it.
The “emo” girl in me from the mid 2000’s was in full effect. Now I overheard a girl that was against the barricade, dead center in front of the stage, whom stated she camped out to get that spot. Clearly that meant the dedicated fans started forming a line outside the doors at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA the night before the concert/lines actually started. CRAZY. WILD and simply just proving that My Chemical Romance still has those die hard fans after all these years.
Roughly around 9:30 p.m. the sound of “The Swarm” started off soft but then progressed and got louder and louder, building the anticipation. The fans grew more anxious and as the lights went out the fans chatter turned into screaming. High pitch screaming.
The dark stage grew with a little bit of light as My Chemical Romance took the stage, then once the whole band got into position frontman Gerard Way joined his bandmates. My Chemical Romance opened up their set with The Foundations of Decay which is their most recent released single. From there on out it was nothing but loud and loving fans screaming and singing along word for word the entire night. The band gave their fans a night and setlist to remember and I must say the nostalgia was real.
If you haven’t noticed from social media, My Chemical Romance plays a somewhat different set every night, the fans were treated to a slew of older material from the early MCR days. The seventeen song setlist My Chemical Romance performed had fans up and out of their seats the whole entire night. The band performed a seventeen song setlist after ending their set with Famous Last Words they then regrouped and performed a two song encore which were songs Vampires Will Never Hurt You and The Kids From Yesterday.
