Sunday June 12th 2022 in Baltimore Maryland at Oriole Park in Camden Yards, the legendary Sir Paul McCartney made his first performance in Baltimore in nearly 60 years! The last time McCartney performed in Baltimore was in 1964 during The Beatles’ first North American Tour. Some may say Sunday is “Gods day”, but today was the “Musical God” day.
Currently on the GOT BACK Tour, a thirteen city tour kicked off back in April in Washington State, the anticipation built for the DMV residents and whomever traveled to see the legend himself on stage. Now just being honest here, this was the first time in a VERY LONG TIME that I have seen a full Orioles Park. There was not a single seat available in sight looking around from the center of the field near front of house/soundboard area.
Not to ramble on but you can’t get a bigger show to photograph/review than this. Days leading up to this show I was anxious and had butterflies leading up to McCartney taking the stage. The weather was absolutely PERFECT considering there were forecasts predicting storms throughout the night, the vibes were spot on and it was just a relaxing environment. Hell even the music keeping fans entertained were spot on right. If you want a loving/peaceful environment then get yourself to a Paul McCartney concert, everyone was happy and enjoying themselves no matter where you were sitting.
Roughly 8:30 PM, Sir Paul McCartney took the stage with a huge grin on his face, smiled as he walked with instrument in hand and held his fist up as he greeted the fans who screamed, cheered and gave the man a standing ovation. McCartney opened up his set with a song by The Beatles, Can’t Buy Me Love.
McCartney who is turning a young 80 years old on June 18th played for a solid 2 hours and 40 minutes. The setlist Baltimore got treated to was a whopping thirty one songs and that wasn’t even including the encore, the setlist consisted of a mixture of The Beatles, McCartneys Solo music and even some Wings songs thrown into the mix. INSANE!!! The one song during his set that pulled on many heart strings was My Valentine, who McCartney dedicated to his Wife Nancy who was in the crowd. What a gentleman.
I have attended and cover hundreds of artists/musicians/bands in my career and hands down this was the best concert I have ever been to. Not because an absolute legend was performing right before my eyes but the production was top notch, and getting to listen to music by The Beatles frontman live was just a once in a life time experience in my opinion. Everything about this show was top notch. The music was perfect, seeing all the fans decked out in their Beatles attire, loving every moment and just living in the moment was purely magical.
