GO LIVE: GOTH BABE AT THE ANTHEM IN WASHINGTON D.C.

When you hear the name Goth Babe you wouldnt you don’t quite expect to hear upbeat dreamy electronic pop music. At least I didn’t, in fact I didn’t quite expect to experience one of the best upbeat and fun shows I’ve ever been to. Griff Washburn uses the name in order to remind himself to “not take things too seriously,” stated in an interview with Flood Magazine which he perfectly encapsulates with his on stage performance. The first chance I got to see them was at the All Things Go Festival late last year. In a lineup featuring a stacked list of performers such as Hippo Campus, Peach Pit, Lorde, Mitski and many others Goth Babe struck a chord with me. Out of the rainy day his set stood out the most personally. What was especially prominent was his connection to the crowd. The larger than life personality never lets the moment shine on him, he brings out the positives in life and interaction and gives that back to the crowd. Needless to say I was tracking when they came back this time in front of a sold out Anthem crowd. The crowd was treated to an incredible show that featured amazing opening acts in the form of Yoke Lore and flipturn. If you ever been to a Goth Babe show its tradition for members of the crowd to be crowd surfed on pool floats and D.C. did not disappoint having crowd surfed members of the crowd for the entirety of the show. Guests were also treated to a special 9:30 Cupcake toss, as well as the classic Goth Babe crowd squat complete with confetti cannons. Goth Babe captures the joy of life in his music and that is put on full display when you experience it live. If you haven’t checked them out yet please do yourself a favor and don’t miss the next chance they’re in town! Full Goth Babe setlist:
